Food Safety Accessibility Statement

Accessibility for educational games is a work in progress across the industry. We continually seek solutions to make our products fully accessible and we strive to adhere to established standards for accessibility and usability on each new project. Some of our older products may not be accessible in all areas, and have not been optimized for current accessibility recommendations. Here, we offer the content and approach of this game, so that learners are better able to find alternative content and ways of learning.

Content of the website:

The Chinese Food Safety website presents USDA food safety concepts in the context of Chinese food preparation for Chinese speakers. Since food safety procedures differ in China, the website offers a variety of resources for users to familiarize themselves with American food safety practices. These resources contain official FDA food safety standards, videos explaining the importance of American food safety practices in the restaurant business, and hands-on lessons focusing on kitchen cleanliness and the prevention of cross-contamination. In addition, this site focuses on the basics of food safety in the kitchen such as the reasons behind bacterial growth, safe preparation and storage of rice in a rice cooker, dishwashing, handwashing, and accepting/rejecting a food shipment.

The modules are text- and image-based. They do not include voiceover. However, the website includes songs and slide sets. The modules do not require point-and-click precision, and timing is not important.

Input Devices:
